Team Collaboration
SharePoint can be used to host web sites that access shared workspaces, information stores and documents, as well as host defined applications such as wikis and blogs. All users can manipulate proprietary controls or interact with pieces of content such as lists and document libraries.
Alerts
Because Web sites based on SharePoint technologies are meant to help groups of users work together, they tend to grow quickly and change often. Keeping up with these changes can be difficult for users, especially if they aren't checking on the site every day. To help users stay in touch with changes on a site,a feature called Alerts, an e-mail notification service. When documents, lists, or items in a list on a server running SharePoint Services are created, modified, or deleted, users who sign up for alerts receive messages informing them that changes have been made.
Audience Targeting
This feature allows authors to filter content on sites or pages and scope the viewable content based on the audiences visiting the site. For instance, it allows design based on the users role when visiting the site as opposed to setting up multiple pages with multiple views. Users can setup a single page and filter out content based on the "audience" they set. Using this to filter a list view web part just stops the list view web part from displaying on that particular page for people outside the audience. |
