	Q: What is a Master Page? A: Master pages are a feature of ASP.NET 2.0. Using master pages, you can create a single page template and then use that template as the basis for multiple pages, instead of having to build each new page from scratch. Q: What is the difference between MasterPages and Themes? A: Master Pages give you more control when designing your sites. Check out our Master Pages vs. Themes page to get a better understanding on how they are different. Q: What is a CSS? A: CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets which are used to control the style and layout of multiple Web pages all at once. Q: How do Master Pages and CSS work together? A: Master Pages and CSS files work together, whereby the master page references a CSS file and the CSS file does the actual formatting. Q: What is SharePoint Designer 2007? A: Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 is a new product that allows you to create and customize SharePoint sites. It also allows you to build workflow and master pages. SharePoint Designer has replaced the use of FrontPage when it comes to SharePoint. Q: Do master pages work with both WSS and MOSS sites? A: New master pages cannot be installed on WSS sites, because WSS does not support the Office SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature. However we can customize any existing master page (default). New master pages can be installed and customized for MOSS implementations. Q: Are there any options to modify the master page in WSS? A: Yes! There are two options for modifying master pages specifically in WSS. 1. Create a copy of the default.master file that is installed with Windows SharePoint Services and modify the new file. 2. Edit the default.master page in SharePoint Designer 2007. Q: Do master pages update the administration pages within SharePoint? A: The administration pages within SharePoint use a different master page that the main site. Administration areas can be modified, it just occurs separately than main site branding. Q: Where can I get Master Pages Templates?
